Cambridgeshire, Essex, Sunderland and Suffolk all began with wins, with all but Essex winning their second as well.

Sunderland won their third game, while Cambridgeshire beat Suffolk, so it was now 2 teams at the top on 6 points, while Suffolk and Essex were on 4.

As Saturday finished it was clear that it was a two-horse race. Both Cambridgeshire and Sunderland had won all 4 of their games, while no one else had done better than 2 wins. The two leaders would face one another in Sunday’s final session.

While Cambridgeshire won Sunday’s first game, Sunderland fell to Norfolk. That left Cambs 2 points and 12 shots clear of Sunderland, and with one hand on the trophy.

Cambridgeshire and Sunderland both won again, and although they would meet each other in their final game, Cambridgeshire’s advantage of 2 points and 12 shots meant that it would require an extraordinary result for them to not win the title.

And that very nearly happened, as Sunderland ran out to an 8-0 lead after 5 ends. But at that point Cambridgeshire finally got on the scoreboard, and the game ended with Sunderland winning 11-3. Both teams ended up on 12 points, with Cambridgeshire finishing just 4 shots better, and taking the title.

Sunderland, Suffolk and Hertfordshire all began with narrow wins, whole Durham and Essex drew with one another.

Hertfordshire and Sunderland went on to win their second games, while Suffolk picked up a draw to stay just a point off the lead.

The joint leaders played on another in the next game, and it was Sunderland who came out comfortable winners, putting them 2 points clear of Essex, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire.

Saturday ended with everything to play for on Sunday, as Suffolk beat leaders Sunderland. That meant 3 teams, Hertfordshire, Essex and Sunderland, were on 6 points, with Suffolk on 5.

The top 3 remained the same as Sunday opened, with Herts, Essex and Sunderland now 2 points clear of the field.
Essex and Sunderland played one another in the penultimate round of games, with Sunderland just coming out on top 6-5. Meanwhile Hertfordshire threw away a good start against Durham, to lose, leaving Sunderland 2 points clear at the top.

The top two teams won their final games to maintain their relative positions, with Sunderland taking the title on 12 points and Hertfordshire finishing second on 10 points.

Northumberland, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire all won their opening games, with Suffolk and Northumberland going on to make it 2 out of 2.

Suffolk and Northumberland played one another in the third round of games, and it was Suffolk who came out on top, making them overall leaders, behind them, on 2 wins were Durham, Northumberland and Norfolk.

Saturday’s final games saw Durham beat leaders Suffolk, while Northumberland took their third win. Those 3 teams were all in 6 points, and behind them were Norfolk and Cambridgeshire were on 4 points. All 5 were in with a shout.

Sundays opening games saw the three leaders all winning. They were all on 8 points, with no one else better than 4 points.
While Durham kept their run of wins going, both Suffolk and Northumberland slipped up. Durham were now 2 points clear and looked all but certain to take the title.

Durham finished with a win over Northumberland, to finish on 12 points. Suffolk also lost, leaving them on 8 points, but that was just enough for second, on shots, ahead of Northumberland and Cambridgeshire, who also finished on 8.

Norfolk, Sunderland, Essex and Hertfordshire all started off with wins, but only Norfolk and Hertfordshire were able to repeat that, and so led the way after 2 games.

Matt (Norfolk) made it 3 out of 3, but no one else did. Michael (Sunderland) and Thomas (Herts) were now one win behind Matt.

Matt continued his winning run, to end Saturday on 8 points. Thomas was now in a clear second place, on 6 points, and the race for the title looked to be between the two of them.

The top two won their opening games on Sunday, while Sunderland moved into a clear third place.

Sunday’s second round was crunch time, with the top two playing one another. With 2 ends to go it was all square at 5-5, but Matt picked up a 3 on the 8th, and won the game 9-5. That meant that with one game still to go, Matt was the champion, while Thomas and Michael were separated by just one shot, and would be playing one another in that final game.

Matt (Norfolk) finished with a seventh win, taking the title by 4 points, with Thomas (Herts) beating Michael (Sunderland) to secure second, on 10 points. Michael finished third on 8 points.

Team
With the first round of games out of the way Sunderland and Suffolk led the way on 6 points, with Essex one behind. After the second session it was Sunderland who had just edged ahead, they were on 12 points, one ahead of Suffolk, with Cambridgeshire now third on 9 points.

Three rounds down, and Sunderland edged a little further ahead. They were now on 18 points, Suffolk were on 14, Cambridgeshire 13, and Essex, Durham and Norfolk had 12 points.

The final games on Saturday saw the whole thing tighten up again. Sunderland still led, on 20 points, but Cambridgeshire were just one point behind, with Suffolk just one further point back. Meanwhile Norfolk and Durham were on 16 points, and were by no means out of contention.

It was still very close after Sunday’s first session. Sunderland were on 24 points, Cambridgeshire 23, Suffolk 22, and Durham, Norfolk and Herts on 20.

For the first time across the weekend, Sunderland had been caught, Cambridgeshire were now level with them on points, on 30. Durham were on 26, and Suffolk 25.

However, Cambridgeshire didn't have a great final session, and couple only record one win, whereas Sunderland won 3 out of 4. That gave Sunderland the title with 36 points, while Durham snuck through into second on 32 points, pipping Cambridgeshire by 18 shots.
